June 5, 2026LSIMIXIU Team
One set of quality tape-in extensions can last 12 months — 3-4 re-applications from one purchase.
Month 1-2: First Application
- Wait 48 hours before first wash
- Sleep with hair in a loose braid
- Wash every 3-4 days with sulfate-free shampoo
- Condition mid-lengths to ends only
Month 2-3: First Move-Up
After 6-8 weeks, extensions grow out. Time for a move-up:
- Apply tape remover to each bond
- Slide extensions off gently
- Clean old adhesive
- Apply new replacement tape ($5-10)
- Re-apply closer to roots
The Care Routine
Daily: Brush gently with a loop brush. Silk pillowcase.
Every 3-4 days: Sulfate-free wash. Condition ends only.
Weekly: Leave-in conditioner on ends. Check bonds.
Monthly: Deep conditioning treatment (30 min).
What Shortens Life
- Sulfate shampoo
- Oil near tape bonds
- Sleeping with wet hair
- Heat above 180°C
- Chlorine without protection
